no, people were expecting the real board to replace him, then he won the CL and did it himself, legend :.)

I might be having one of those deja vu moments, but wasn't it common knowledge he was leaving at the end of the season? Now everyone is surprised. Maybe I just heard one person speculating and assumed it was the common view.

Yes, that re-building job at such a high status and political club as Real would be very demanding.
I wouldn't be surprised if Zidane just looked at it and though "I can't be bothered with the aggro".

Sun is reporting that he's being offered £122 grand A DAY to manage Qatar's national team.

I saw speculation that the higher ups at Real wanted to shift Ronaldo and buy Courtois and Zidane didn’t agree. Always go out on your terms at these sort of clubs if you can. Not many get that choice!
It would be magnificent if there was a long drawn out fight over Pochettino ending with him leaving and the Spurs wage structure exploding as Kane wants to go with him. And Spurs open WHL 2 crying into their gourmet cheeses with John Gorman in charge.

I don't think you can handle someone like Ronaldo, he is literally bigger than the club now, he dictates his own terms, might as well make him the manager haha

He won 9 out of the 13 titles Madrid were in during his time there. Outstanding STATS.
2015/16: ✅ UCL ❌ La Liga
2016/17: ✅ UCL ✅ La Liga ✅ UEFA Super Cup ✅ Club World Cup ❌ Copa del Rey
2017/18: ✅ UEFA Super Cup ✅ Supercopa ✅ Club World Cup ✅ UCL ❌ La Liga ❌ Copa del Rey

It takes a strong manager to handle the egos in that dressing room. I doubt Wenger would fancy it though if they offered €10m a year, he may accept. Pochetinno with his already set backroom team is the obvious choice

He's getting out at just the right time. Something akin to the timing of Ferguson's exit from Man U. Set the record of three CL titles on the spin, and then get out and away from an aging squad that needs an overhaul. Modric, Ronaldo, Bale, Marcello, Ramos, probably more, are all getting a bit old now to maintain an assault on the CL, La Liga and the Copa Del Rey, all of which they are expected to compete in. The managed the CL, but went out to a minnow in the cup and only finished 3rd in the league.
He'll take some time off, enjoy watching the world cup, and then I wouldn't be surpsrised to see him take over the French national job.

Zidane has played a very cute game.
I think he knew he had problems on the horizon. What to do with Bale. Ronaldo possibly leaving. Avoiding the sword in his back from Perez.
So he has got out at the very top. 3 CL's in as many years. It won't get any better than that.
Like he did when he was a player he has out-manouvered and put-thought everyone.

I think the only thing saving Spurs from losing Poch is the new stadium. Something tells me he will want to be there for the opening.
Although if Madrid double his money I am sure he could see past that.

I did think it odd that come the end of the final, both the big stars at Madrid chose to make comments that they were wanting out?
Think Perez would have quizzed him why he wasnt starting Bale whose goals as a sub not only won them the CL but also saved there blushes against 10 man Barcelona in El Classico and is obviously one of the best players in the world right know, then Ronaldos comments about it HAVING been nice playing for Madrid.
Mind you finishing 3rd in the league would have been deemed failure by there standards as well.
Given the option to Jump rather than pushed IMO

The only downside is that these moves could end up paying for much of their new stadium. They would be strapped for years otherwise.
